Challenge 1: the No-Death High Score Challenge
This is a challenge common to all SMB1 and SMB3 hacks. Start a new game, and try to get as many points as possible until you lose a life, or (less likely) get past all the hacked levels. The game stops once you die, no matter how many lives are left. Warp Zones are allowed, but Retro-Warp Zones (if there are) aren't. Good luck! Submissions will be ranked by top score. You can try more than once, of course. All your submitted results (NSMs you'll submit) will be put up, with the best on top and the others below, at the appropriate ranks (at least until there are too many ranks).

"I got up to level 2-2, and died because of a stupid risk a shouldn't have taken! Darnit!" He still went through all of World 1 without dying anyway, and it isn't easy!

After a few tries, and especially after I could get past 1-3 without dying, I got to 1-4, with 55350 points. I died falling in a pit next to a waterfall ... I know I should try some more!

Challenge 2: the Fastest Completion Challenge
This is a challenge common to most hacks, but mostly for the complete ones. In this one, try getting past all levels as fast as possible. You can lose as many lives as you want (just don't get Game Over), but not take Warp Zones. No need for a chronometer, I can calculate the exact length of the NSM by looking at its file size. Start the NSM recording right before starting the game, and stop it right after finishing. Good luck! Submissions will be ranked by top time. You can try more than once, of course. All your submitted results will be put up, with the best on top and the others below, at the appropriate ranks (at least until there are too many ranks).

Challenge 3: 3-6 (by Mr. W)
"I want to see somebody beat 3-7 without taking a hit, so that's my challenge. I couldn't beat it without a frog suit." (3-6 originally was 3-7)
Indeed, it's going to be a very hard challenge. You'll have to avoid getting hit by 6 Hammer Bros., 2 Chain Chomps, 4 Thwomps, and 8 Nipper Plants (6 of which spit fireballs), while being on water surface!

Believe it or not, Frank got it! He's an expert on his own hacks! And not only did he get it (with small Mario too!), but he also makes it seem easy, avoiding all dangers without much trouble.

Challenge 4: 2-4 Chomps (by Frank Maggiore)
"Get past 2-5 starting as small Mario. Nightmare!" (2-4 originally was 2-5)
You'll have to be good at avoiding Chomps ... there are 12 of them, and they won't let you get past them so easily!

Challenge 5: 3-9 Hammer Suit (by Frank Maggiore)
"Get past the level getting (and KEEPING) the Hammer Bros. Suit in the level (you know, the one that isn't worth the trouble). This is a NIGHTMARE... I haven't done it yet."
You'll have to get to the 3-9 bonus room, get the Hammer Bros. Suit, then get to the end of the level without getting hit! Good thing that the Hammer Bros. Suit is going to help ...

"Here's me, somehow doing the level, starting with fire, and ending up with the Hammer Suit, and actually finishing the level with it! And now you get to see WHY it's more trouble than it's worth... took me about 30 tries!"

Challenge 6: 6-6 (by Frank Maggiore)
"Get past 6-7 starting as small Mario. It's tough enough starting with fire!" (6-6 previously was 6-7)
You'll have to be fast, since for a big part of the level you'll have to jump on donut blocks, and you'll also have to avoid getting hit by flying cheep-cheeps!

Challenge 7: 8-1 Quicksand
(8-1 originally was 8-2) Have a nice trip in the quicksand! And make sure you avoid getting hit by the angry sun during that time! Two fire-spitting Nipper Plants and a large pit between the two await you at the end of the level, so beating it with small Mario would be nearly impossible! Having Fire Mario could be very useful, shooting fireballs will let you see where you are in the quicksand ...

Challenge 8: 8-2 Hardest Level Challenge (by Frank Maggiore)
"Simply GET PAST THE LEVEL! I personally think anyone who is able to beat the level should get an award or something... it's that hard. It's extemely tough with a P-wing (STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for this challenge), and virtually impossible without one!" (8-2 originally was 8-1)
Some parts of the level may seem easy, but once you get near the end (or should I say just a little past halfway through it?) you'll realise how hard the level really is. Watch out for LOTS of Nipper Plants and Pirhana Plants as well as some hard jumps, and should I tell you there's no ground below the goal card and you have to jump on a Fire Chomp to bounce to the goal card? Take Frank's recommendation, USE A P-WING!
