Challenge 1: the No-Death High Score Challenge
This is a challenge common to all SMB1 and SMB3 hacks. Start a new game, and try to get as many points as possible until you lose a life, or (less likely) get past all the hacked levels. The game stops once you die, no matter how many lives are left. Warp Zones are allowed, but Retro-Warp Zones (if there are) aren't. Good luck! Submissions will be ranked by top score. You can try more than once, of course. All your submitted results (NSMs you'll submit) will be put up, with the best on top and the others below, at the appropriate ranks (at least until there are too many ranks).

Here I gave a new try, and I got it much better than on my previous try. I went through the levels pretty fast, pretty well, and at the same time getting more points than Frank did. A few times I got close to die but I would always get out of trouble without dying. However, I ended up dying quite stupidly in 2-3, after accidentally falling into one of my own traps by trying to jump carefully. I won't say more, to not spoil it ...

Looks like he's not as good in my hacks as in his, but it's perfectly normal because I'm also better in my own hacks than in his. Anyway, he still got through the first levels without much trouble, although he missed a few bonuses and things like that that would have given him more points. He died in 2-3, after missing a jump.

My first try at this challenge. I didn't get very far, I died in the 1-5 cloud heaven. Everything before that went pretty well ... I should probably try again later.

Challenge 2: the Fastest Completion Challenge
This is a challenge common to most hacks, but mostly the complete ones. In this one, try getting past all levels as fast as possible. You can lose as many lives as you want (just don't get Game Over), but not take Warp Zones. No need for a chronometer, I can calculate the exact length of the NSM by looking at its file size. Start the NSM recording right before starting the game, and stop it right after finishing. Good luck! Submissions will be ranked by top time. You can try more than once, of course. All your submitted results will be put up, with the best on top and the others below, at the appropriate ranks (at least until there are too many ranks).

Challenge 3: World 1 No Deaths
Get through all of World 1 without dying once. If you're good enough, it shouldn't be very hard, but you can always try to beat it as fast as possible!

I went through all levels in World 1, without much trouble. It was the first time I got through it without dying.

Challenge 4: World 2 No Deaths
Same thing, but with World 2 this time. It's also a lot harder because there are more levels and they are harder than in World 1. I know it's still possible because I once got it! Good luck.

It was much harder than World 1, and I came VERY close to die right at the end (ship boss room, after hitting the boss two times). With some bad luck, I'd have missed it ... This NSM makes World 2 seem easier than it really is!

Challenge 5: 1-5 Coin Heaven
Go to the 1-5 Coin Heaven with small Mario, and try to get as many coins as possible! There are hundreds of them to get, and getting them all is nearly impossible. Just get as many as you are able to get. No need to count the coins you get, I have a way to know the exact number easily so I can rank the submissions.

I tried getting as many coins as I could in that coin heaven, and make sure I wouldn't get hit by the hammer brother. I went on until I couldn't get more coins (there wasn't much time left either).

Challenge 6: 3-5 No Platform
Get through 3-5 with small Mario, without using the moving platform. You'll have to avoid more enemies, and jump over a few big pits. And of course, don't get hit!

The one that made that challenge, he got it first. He's doing a good job avoiding the enemies.

The day after, I decided to try it myself, and I got it too after a while. At some parts I was going fast and had to wait for the autoscrolling, while at other parts I was at the left of the screen. I also came a bit close to die at one place.

One more day after, Mr. W did it too, in a way similar to mine. It was one of his first times beating the level, so he got it pretty well!

Challenge 7: 4-1
Get through 4-1 with small Mario. Avoid all the cheep-cheeps and don't fall in the pits! Although some parts of the level are easy, a few others can be really hard, so beware.

This NSM makes the level seems easier than it really is, although I did get close to die at a few times. I went through the hardest parts without much trouble though.

Challenge 8: 4-2 Giant Level
Get through 4-2 with small Mario, once again. Not as hard as 4-1 but still not easy.

I went through that giant level pretty well, and did a good job getting past all the cannons near the end.

Challenge 9: 4-5 Cheep-Cheeps
Get through 4-5 with small Mario. You'll have to avoid getting hit by a lot of cheep-cheeps, as well as avoiding many other dangers, while following the autoscrolling!

Here I pretty much always had to keep an eye on those flying Cheep-cheeps, as well as many other dangers, and it did it well.

Challenge 10: 4-6 Water & Hammer Bros.
Get through 4-6 with small Mario, without using the shortcut pipe. Avoid the cheep-cheeps in water, as well as the Hammer Bros. at the beginning and the end of the level!

I didn't have much trouble going past the water part, but the hammer brothers didn't give up so easily. I had to wait for them to run away below the ground ...

Challenge 11: 4-Ship Cannons!
Get through World 4 Ship with small Mario and don't get hit. It's much harder than it seems ... as there are a LOT of cannons in the second part of the ship, and you'll need a lot of skill to avoid all the bullets as well as the bob-ombs and flying cheep-cheeps! The ship boss isn't so easy to beat either.

Oh wow, if you like to see Mario go through a lot of dangers and come out without getting hit once, you'll see it in this NSM. I'm like avoiding dozens of cannon balls, bob-ombs, and flying cheep-cheeps! The battle in the boss room wasn't easy and short either, I had to be prudent so I wouldn't get hit and die.

Got an interesting challenge that isn't here? Let me know!
